I am David Baum, a community organizer providing services to people who live in homeless camps. Until September 2017, my primary activity was making meals, which I did for several camps including: Licton Springs Village, Camp Second Chance, Camp United We Stand, Nickelsville Georgetown, and Tent City 3.
Now (December 2017) I’m working primarily with one camp – Camp Second Chance – as their chosen “Administrator & Liaison,” an unofficial position that involves helping the camp maintain a good working relationship with their partners in the business world and in the community. I volunteer in the camp office about 20 hours per week. I attend the camp meetings. I help maintain the camp’s presence on the Internet. (See the camp’s Facebook Page.)
I expect there will be many good developments in the New Year. Please stay tuned…
“Rumble, rumble, rumble, CRASH!” is the sound an earthquake makes. I worked on neighborhood emergency preparedness for quite a while, so earthquakes are on my mind. Also, we are in the midst of a political and spiritual earthquake all the world around! This project is my response to our impressively unprecedented circumstances.
My logo is a derivation of the Hindu icon Nataraja, which depicts the god Shiva dancing the creation and destruction of the world.
